JUNE  2009

With current grants you can easily recover the costs in less than a year!! HOWEVER these grants are now so popular that you can wait months for a survey. So don't delay!! Act now.
This list gives typical costs for a 3 bed semi and the contact phone numbers for the grant providers.
The first stage is to arrange a survey to determine whether your property can be insulated.
The surveys are made without any obligation and you will be given an individual quotation for how much your contribution will be for your property. Where scaffolding is needed eg above a conservatory, costs may be higher.
It may be worthwhile trying more than one number as the offers vary between the providers and the information sometimes changes after we compile the list.

NOTES

If anyone in your household receives benefits there are grants of up to £2700 for a variety of heating and insulation issues and up to £4000 for oil central heating. You can ring the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre at 0800 512012 or Warm Front tel 0800 9520600

Most energy companies provide insulation FREE for people on benefits! Ask when you ring.

Installers are reluctant to insulate random stone cavity walls. Some will insulate stone walls if the stone is dressed on the cavity side. If you have stone cavity walls and you know how wide your cavity is, it is helpful to tell them.

Some companies will top up your loft insulation irrespective of the existing thickness that you have. Others will only top up if you have 100mm or less of insulation. Check when you ring.

Privately renting and housing association tenants will need to get written permission from their landlord or housing association. Housing associations in Scarborough BC area have schemes for free insulation.

For a copy of this sheet or clarification for any of the above ring Colin Mather on 01287 669104
